After ignoring several requests, an Argentine court at Buenos Aires orders the arrest of Canadian pop star Justin Beiber for allegedly assaulting a photographer outside a nightclub in 2013.
On Thursday, Judge Alberto Banos requested an Interpol Red Notice to arrest Bieber and face charges against him. He is charged of robbery, attempted robbery and assault with minor injuries.
The case dates back when Bieber had a "Believe Tour" in Buenos Aires.
According to the complaint filed before the court in Buenos Aires, Bieber ordered his bodyguard to forcibly seize the camera and cellphone of photographer Diego Pesoa. The incident happened on November 2013 just outside the nightclub in the Palermo neighbourhood.
After ignoring several subpoenas to appear before the court, the Argentinian judge was prompted to issue Bieber's arrest. The plaintiff's lawyer, Matias Morla, is happy with the court's decision.
"The judge's decision is excellent and represents a new slap in the face to Justin's arrogance," Morla told a local newspaper Diario Popular.
"Justin has hidden behind his fame and money to escape justice. Now he will have to observe the court ruling of a sovereign country like Argentina and show up to testify like any other citizen," he added.
The 22 years old Canadian pop star has enjoyed a clean image during the peak of his career, but after several years he frequently got several run-ins with the law, most notably in the United States and Canada.
