Ever a Surprise: Fairy Tale–Inspired Jewelry - JCK Posted: 16 Mar 2017 12:00 AM PDT I can't be the only one who's inexplicably excited about Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which releases in theaters tomorrow. The music, the 18th-century France setting, Belle's sweeping buttercup-yellow ball gown, the fact that Dan Stevens (Matthew on Downton Abbey) plays the Beast…it all has me suspended in a romantic reverie that I can't quite shake. Here's the trailer: Beauty and the Beast – US Official Final Trailer And here's where this flight of fancy has landed me: in a little enchanted kingdom of fairy tale–inspired jewels. Some of the references below are literal, while others offer a subtle nod to the whimsy—and princess-centric themes—of the fairy-tale canon, with a tiara here, a sprinkling of pixie dust there… Belle's ball gown in miniature—if you're planning to take your daughter to the movie, this would be the perfect memento. Disney Belle Dress charm in enamel and silver, $65; Pandora Immortalized here in a pair of bright red rosebud studs, the enchanted rose is central to the plotline of Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast stud earrings with Swarovski crystals set in gold-plated brass, $129; Atelier Swarovski In Sleeping Beauty, a mass of protective brambles and thorns spring up around the castle where Princess Aurora is condemned to slumber for 100 years—the work of one of the good fairies watching over her. Long Thorns earrings in 14k yellow gold, $2,975; Elisabeth Bell Jewelry Two Cinderella icons, one striking statement. Glass Slipper Pumpkin double finger ring, $66; Les Néréides Paris Shades of Cinderella's choker when she goes to the ball… Black velvet and 14k rose gold choker with diamonds, $2,170; Kismet by Milka …and the coach that takes her there. Rose gold–plated carriage charm bracelet, about $68; Rue Des Milles Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo! Magic Wand ear climber in 14k gold with a diamond, $280; Morphe Jewelry From Tinker Bell in Peter Pan to the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio and even the evil Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty—this necklace is an homage to them all. Blue Fairy necklace in 14k gold with drusy crystal and diamonds, $1,500; Jacquie Aiche Mined the Stephen Webster archives for this enduringly eerie Snow White–inspired cocktail ring from the designer's 2011 Murder She Wrote collection. Poison Apple ring in 18k rose gold with rubies and diamonds; Stephen Webster According to the designer of this exquisite piece, rock crystal with golden rutile needles is often referred to as "Mermaid's Hair," which of course made me think of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. Demoiselle necklace in 18k yellow gold with quartz drop pendant and diamond, price on request; Jemily Fine Jewelry You could channel your favorite fairy-tale princess in an actual tiara, but this is a lot more wearable… King and Queen ring in 18k noble gold with diamonds, $1,800; H.Stern Rapunzel wears a pink dress in the 2014 Disney movie adaptation of Into the Woods. Unique Crown ring in 14k rose gold with morganites, price on request; Braverman Jewelry Although the shape and details of the crown feel very Frog Prince, there's no question: This ring is fit for a queen. Gold and gemstone ring, price on request; Dallas Prince Designs
